Mark is one of South Africa’s most accomplished business leaders, with the unique credential of having led three public companies in three different sectors at three different points of their life cycle. He took retailer Massmart from six to over two hundred stores in sub-Saharan Africa, prior to Walmart purchasing control of the group in one of the largest investments by an American company in South Africa. Mark was subsequently CEO of Transaction Capital, a specialized financial services group, and Imperial Holdings, a global vehicle and logistics holding company. He received his Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Pretoria in 2024. The Lamberti family’s philanthropy is directed primarily at the tertiary education of talented, underprivileged women.
